Privacy

We collect only what the forms ask, we use it only to run NC Ignyte, and we do not sell or share it.

What we collect

An account, three forms, and nothing else on this site.

Your account

Your email address. To sign up or sign in we email you a six digit code, which lasts 15 minutes and works once. There is no password to remember or for us to lose. We record when you last signed in.

The student application

Your name, phone number, and email. Your parent or guardian's name, email, and phone number. Your school and grade. Your startup name and what you are building. Whether you are solo or on a team, and your teammates' names and emails if you give them. Why you want to join and your goals. Whether you can attend all five Fridays. Any food allergies, if you choose to tell us.

The parent or guardian consent form

Your name, relationship to the student, email, and phone number. An emergency contact, if you give one. Anything you choose to tell us to keep your student safe and included, which may include allergies, medical needs, or accessibility needs. Your answers on participation, transport, AI tools, and photo permission. Your typed name as an electronic signature.

The support partner form

Your name, email, organization, role, and phone number if you give it. How you would like to help and which dates you could attend.

What we do not collect

We do not run analytics on the application, parent, status, or admin pages. We do not store or upload photos or video. We do not send any student or parent information to an AI or language service.

How long we keep it

We keep applications and consent forms indefinitely, so we can recognise returning students in later cohorts and keep a record of who consented to what. If you would rather we did not, ask us to delete it and we will. See below.

Who can see it

A small number of NC Ignyte organizers, through a password-protected admin page. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with sponsors, partners, or schools.

Writing decision letters

When we accept or decline an application, an organizer writes the letter. To help draft one paragraph of it, we may send a language service five things: the student’s first name, the name of their startup, and the three answers describing what they are building, their goals, and why they applied.

We never send a last name, an email address, a phone number, a school, a parent or guardian’s details, an emergency contact, or any allergy, medical, or accessibility note. Those are not part of the request, and the rest of the letter is fixed text we wrote. An organizer reads and edits every draft before it is sent, and nothing a draft produces reaches a family without a person approving it.

Email

We email students and their parent or guardian about NC Ignyte only. We never put a phone number, an allergy note, or a medical note in an email.

Asking us to delete it

Write to hello@ncignyte.org and we will delete your information. You do not have to give a reason, and asking does not affect a current application.
